The Solose Sisters, born in Canada of Swabian-Hungarian parents, perform regularly in Canada and the United States to enthusiastic ovations. Both accomplished soloists, they embrace the most challenging duo and duet literature with ease, continuing a collaboration that began as children. As a duo, they have been invited to perform for the Eastman School of Music Summer Series, the Prairie New Music Festival and the 1996 International Music Conference celebrating the Austrian Millennium in Ottawa. Their recitals have been broadcast on CBC Radio Canada.

Kathleen Solose
Canadian pianist Kathleen Solose has received international critical acclaim as a soloist and chamber musician.
Unanimous first-prize winner of the Casagrande International Competition in Italy and winner of CBC’s national auditions for both solo and chamber music, Kathleen Solose has since appeared in recital in Germany, Austria, Hungary, Bulgaria, Italy, the United States, and Canada, and has recorded for Radio-Televisione Italiana, Radio Svizzera Italiana, American Public Radio, and frequently for CBC.
Kathleen Solose received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the Juilliard School, New York, where she studied with Adele Marcus and Felix Galimir. Through numerous Canada Council grants for study abroad, she was privileged to continue her studies in Italy with Guido Agosti at the Accademia Chigiana, with Carlo Zecchi at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome and, as Visiting Canadian Artist, with Stanislaus Neuhaus at the Moscow Conservatory.
A seasoned chamber musician, Kathleen Solose has founded numerous ensembles including the Toronto Kammertrio and Musici Amati. She has performed in concert with Paul Marleyn, Erika Raum, Marc Destrubé, the Lafayette String Quartet, and countless other artists.
Kathleen Solose also tours with a magnificent copy of an 1814 Viennese Streicher fortepiano, one that Beethoven would have played, in order to explore historic performance practices on the early piano, in repertoire ranging from Haydn and Beethoven to Schubert and early romantic literature.
Kathleen Solose is currently Associate Professor of Music at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon.
Jane Solose
A native of Niagara Falls, Canada of Hungarian-German descent, Jane Solose leads an active career as a featured concerto soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, duo pianist, and master teacher. Her performances have taken her to Austria, Hungary, Japan, Korea, Canada, and around the U.S. She is a past winner of the CBC Radio Music National Competition in Canada and received special commendation at the International Vienna Modern Masters Performers Recording Award Competition. Solose has recorded for Capstone Records, Living Artist Recordings, CBC National Radio, and National Public Radio in the Midwest, and has been published in the journals 20th Century Music and Clavier. She performed solo works by Liszt at the 2005 Great Romantics Festival in Canada and at the American Liszt Society 2006 Festival. Duo Solose, a duo-piano collaboration with her sister Kathleen, perform to enthusiastic ovations. Dr. Solose is currently an Associate Professor of Piano at the Conservatory of Music and Dance, University of Missouri – Kansas City.
