Bring him home, an excellant rendition of the Les Miserables masterpiece. Our Love is here to stay - Words Ira Gershwin, Music George Gershwin, fine arrangement by Joe Indence, with excellant vocals by Lee Durley who sounds like a cross between Billy Eckstein, Lou Rawls. Inthe song's intro, I like how the Bill Evans type piano compliment the earthy vocals, and how the remainder of the song has a smooth jazz feel. At first , I wasn't sure about the way you look tonight, partly because instinctively you comapre it to the Frank Sinatra classic. But now its one of my favorite tracks. The sax arrangement is great. A song for you - a blues song written by one of the great session men of all times is a walk off home run. The song is so effective because it is a blues ballad that the pianist adds these Debussy watercolor flourishes that some how serves as a wistful conterpoint to the soulfull blues balad. NY state of mind is another great rendition that improved from the original track. Its happening in Monterey is one of highlights, i like the clarinet/piano arrangement, and the way the lyrics were morphed into the California city versus the original which pays homage to Mexico. Wonderful World is a peppy arrangement to an old standard. You could argue that the piano arrangement is simplistic, but it works especially with the jazz inflections of the wind instrument that was added to the final version of the recording. The harmonies recall the Mills brothers and the Temptations. Kudos
