Album Notes

this album is the result of sitting by oneself in a poorly lit room writing down anything, and everything, that comes to mind.

it's complex, visually-fragmented rhymes, coupled with its subtly gorgeous soundscapes, places 'pictures' in a category yet to be determined. (for fans of sage francis' personal journals, and blockhead's production).

Well i gotta say this is one album you can't listen to just once. With words and phrasing that create images like dali with a pen.I found myself in a field of poetic brilliance i have not heard since sage francis released "Personal Journals".At times you feel stuffed in a corner with the depression presented but realize this artist must have been through alot and are actually happy at the end knowing he came out of it with fresh beats and ill flows. Can't wait for the next one but in the mean time Pictures of ourselves will keep my ears busy.

Dust transcends the materialist rap scene simply by bringing more to the table. With "Pictures of ourselves," Dust gives us insight and perspective while most rappers are busy trying to disguise their wackness with shiny things. His somber lyrics stand apart from artists like Atmosphere with superior metaphors and imagery (think Aesop Rock). These satisfyingly earthy beats complement Dust's flow like a good movie soundtrack.

hearing such poetically poignant lyrics over hard hitting beats is refreshing. it's melancholic, but it's fucking genius. WORD TO THE DUST HEADS.
