Album Notes

Dustin Jones considers himself "A Musician Who Happens To Play Guitar." Although he is primarily a Classical Guitarist, Dustin is heavily influenced by New Age Music, Celtic Music, European Power Metal as well as traditional Classical Music in his own compositions.

Dustin fell in love with the guitar in 1987 after being inspired by the movie La Bamba - which came out that same year. Over time, Dustin's guitar experience led him through an eclectic array of musical styles by playing in various bands. However, as the years went by Dustin began to focus his interests into solo acoustic guitar. Through several teachers (and private study) he learned the works of the classical guitar repertoire, and began to write his own music during that time.

Dustin has been performing publicly and teaching private guitar lessons since 1999. His classical guitar training was most recently under Thomas Patterson M.A., (Professor of Guitar Studies at the University of Arizona). Professor Patterson often recruits Dustin to judge the numerous guitar competitions held there as well. In both 2003 and 2006 Dustin performed Ariel Ramirez's Misa Criolla with choir and ensemble at Pima Community College in Tucson. Dustin has also participated in master classes with world renowned classical guitarists Christopher Parkening and William Kanengiser. Dustin's debut CD Neskowin is to be released in December 2006 and will feature mostly his original compositions for solo guitar.

Beautiful debut on acoustic guitar
author: The Sub-Etha Mariner
In this debut album Dustin Jones skillfully demonstrates the range and versatility of the solo acoustic guitar with a selection of instrumental pieces that are meditative, meticulous, and soulful. Songs like "At the End of the Earth" weave a spell, like a flickering fire, that draws the listener into a reverie; others, like "One Fine Thursday" or "Elation", are quicker-moving, bright melodies. With the exception of "Tico Tico" and "Adelita", all tracks are original compositions, beautiful ambient music that is a mix of New Age and classical, with memorable melodies. Jones' study of the classical form, and its influence, is evident in "Starseed" and "Where's the Dream Go When It's Over". Production values are excellent. The guitar is full, mellow, and round, and the accompaniment present on a few tracks (such as "The Timeless Sea") is supportive and doesn't overwhelm the guitar. I quite enjoyed this initial effort and am looking forward to Jones' next album. It would be interesting to hear his classical performances along with some new compositions.

Great first effort from Dustin.

A nice mix of styles which showcases Dustins abilities. In today's solo guitar market it's hard to make it specializing in only one style. I'm looking forward to hearing his next album.
