Dustin Wray is an talented rock vocalist and songwriter from NE Ohio. He has fronted several bands, written over 200 songs, and is now releasing his third studio CD of original material, entitled "It Doesn't Matter What It's Called". His music has been requested by multiple Music Libraries in the Los Angeles area, and is currently being pitched for television and motion picture soundtracks.
Although Dustin's music is mainly centered around big rock anthems and pop/rock gems, he has also tackled such diverse genres as blues, pop ballads, and even country-western for his first mainstream release. It will also include a cover of the legendary Kansas song "Dust In the Wind."
Dustin has teamed up with Cleveland music producer Scott Kovarik (who has several TV / Movie placements himself). Together they have created a heavy rock sound that is both reminiscent of great rock bands of the past, yet still commercially viable in today's changing musical landscape.
Dustin's influences include such classic bands as Kansas, Styx, & Journey, but his new CD incorporates these influences into newer sounds from bands like Collective Soul, Jet, Buckcherry, and Velvet Revolver. Vocally, Dustin has been compared to many top rock performers, such as Jon Bon Jovi, Bono, & Meatloaf.
Dustin's musical aspirations were sidelined for a couple of years due to his deployment for Operation Iraqi Freedom. Dustin is a Captain in the Army Reserves, and was sent overseas for duty in both Kuwait and Iraq. Dustin served as the Company Commander of a 170-soldier Transportation Unit, and upon his return took a year-long full-time tour in order to teach Convoy Survivability to Army units preparing to deploy to the same region in which he served.
