Album Notes

Dutch Newman and his Musical Melodians are a unique experience in the currently thriving California vintage music scene. Essentially a singer/songwriter project time traveling to the 1920’s and ‘30’s, Dutch and his ensemble evoke that 80 year-old era while remaining original and fresh in their performances.
The originality stems primarily from Dutch’s repertoire, the majority of which are songs he has written, both music and lyrics. The freshness is in the interpretations of Dutch, his stellar crew of side musicians, and his female vocalist/partner, Miss Mikal Sandoval, aka “the San Francisco Songbird.”
Along with concerts all over the south land, the Musical Melodians’ monthly appearances at Miss Sandoval’s Speakeasy Night at the Talking
Stick in Venice, CA have tightened up the band into a prime-time ready attraction. This CD bears witness to that development.
A highlight of this groups performances are the diverse voices used by the members, depending on the mood of the material. All the side musicians play multiple instruments, and Dutch and Mikal reveal different personas to fully interpret each song.
So be ready to enjoy, again and again, this memento of a current sound with a vintage accent, Dutch Newman and his Musical Melodians.
