Guest Artist Bob Mintzer is a world renowned Tenor Saxophonist and Composer who teaches at USC and tours the world with the Yellowjackets. His compositions and solos are the highlight of this excellent live recording. The CD also includes more live tracks from Yoshi's Jazz Club (Oakland, CA) and a concert at Diablo Valley College including the DVC Jazz Ensemble. There is an eclectic mix of big band swing, Latin, funk, and ballad compositions and arrangements with lots of great solos. This project was produced and directed by Rory Snyder, Director of Jazz Studies at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, CA. www.dvc.edu
