Dwayne’s resume is bulleted by co-writing with Stevie Nicks, as well as projects with James Ingram, Gerald Albright and Paul Jackson Jr. SILK brilliantly showcases his acumen as a keyboardist, producer and engineer. The tracks comfortably drape around your ears like a well-tailored suit. It opens with “Jo Jo,” a tune to get your groove on for clubbing. “Finding Out” hooks you from the start with its breezy chill overtones. “Bones” will throw you back to 1987’s “Seasons Change” by Expose’. Remember them? Other highlights include “Are You Ready,” “Toys” and “Lampluster.” Mr. Russell’s keyboard playing is tight and his instrument choices for supporting roles are perfectly cast and arranged. Simply put, the ten cuts on this album are honest, clean and original. This makes SILK a solid smooth jazz CD and a go-to staple in your audio collection.
