Album Notes

Dorkweed is an indie rock band from Seattle. Originally from Oklahoma City and a member of a scene that included The Flaming Lips and The Chainsaw Kittens, Brent Amacher relocated to Seattle in 1998 and created Dorkweed. The project has evolved to include four other members hailing from leading musical cities such as Seattle, Memphis, and Brooklyn. The lineup includes Brent singer/songwriter/guitar), Forrest (bass/vocals), Ozo (guitar), Curtis (drums/vocals), and Steve (percussion/keyboards). Members formerly played in other well-known Seattle bands The Tremens and PeterParker.

Dorkweed creates emotional and hard-edged, catchy rock/pop simmering with genuine indie inventiveness. The band experiments with aggressive guitar, hooky riffs, dual drummer action, introspective themes, and distinctive vocal energy and harmonies.Comparisons have included The Pixies, The Flaming Lips, Violent Femmes, Weezer, Camper Van Beethoven, and Bowie.

In 2004, Dorkweed released their sixth record, Sometimes Animals Die (SAD). SAD was recorded at Robert Lang Studios (Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Death Cab For Cutie ) and recorded and mixed by producer Tim Harmon (The Carolines, Damien Jurado, Kum). Additional artist contributions came from Quentin Ertell (Brent Arnold and The Spheres ), Matthew Parker (Peter Parker), and notable producer Jeff Saltzman (Sunset Valley , Stephen Malkmus, The Standard, The Joggers, The Minders). SAD combines Dorkweed's reputation for innovative and contagious pop songwriting with a faster, harder and more grinding sound.
