Album Notes

The dwsChorale (a one-man multitrack choir) has performed many works from the early, renaissance, romantic and modern periods. This selection comprises some favourite tracks from this output - mainly secular, but with a sprinkling of spirituality. The words of Walmisley's piece "Music all powerful" just begins to sum it up:
Music has power to uplift or soothe the soul, to send us to war or to love, to religion (Locus Iste) or to fun (Il est bel et bon), to an appreciation of nature (Wondrous Cool), to the simplicity of purity (The Snow).

The performer in this "choir" (David W Solomons) is a countertenor who has sung in many concert halls, churches and cathedrals in England over the past 35 years and has come to know all of these works from within: the insights achieved from liturgical and concert performances and from conductors' comments at rehearsals over the years has informed his performances here and have led to a unity of expression combined with a multiplicity of inspiration.
