Album Notes

When talking about Dyed In The Wool one thing that audiences and critics keep coming back to is their fantastic performance. DITW has been together for over ten years playing great American folk and contemporary music throughout the Midwest with a powerful edge created by their outstanding musicianship and vocals. Meghan Mckown is a wonderfully expressive vocalist who is comfortable in many idioms from folk to jazz. Julia Dusek-Devens adds beautiful harmonies and John Devens’ solid baritone rounds out the bands interpretations of some of the best songs by some of the best songwriters on the scene today, including some of John’s own compositions. Audiences have been captivated by their many surprises on the stage from Julia’s flute prowess and whimsical dancing to Jims’ impressive command of any instrument he picks up. They have been known to break into some rousing Celtic instrumental dance tunes at any moment that keep delighting audiences wherever they perform.
Dyed In The Wool will not settle for musical labels. They let their muse take them wherever they want to go, and their audiences love them for that.

Reviews:
"It's a grand CD, one they can be proud of. All the vocals were really on. It sounded like they were having an inspired good time. And the instrumental arrangements are extremely powerful, for Silky and ALL the songs. I'll listen to this one a lot".
Art Thieme

"There are a lot of bands in Chicago, a lot of very good bands. Among the very best is Dyed In The Wool, a gathering of grand musical talents and sweet sensibilities that can handle traditional tunes in ways that maike them fresh and vibrant and create original tunes that will stay with you forever. It's a fabulous album".

A Real Treat

I live in Portland, Oregon where it rains a lot. You can imagine my surprise and delight when I put on the Dyed in the Wool CD that arrived in the afternoon mail and saw the sun come out. Coincidence? If so, it was a lucky one. It allowed me to sit out back and enjoy good weather and great music. The mix of traditional Irish tunes and contemporary folk tugged at the strings of this old folkie's heart and the talented members of Dyed in the Wool combined smooth vocals and precision playing to create a superb listening experience.
