Album Notes

Timothy Blinko (conductor) studied composition at the Royal College of Music, where he was awarded the Bliss Composition Scholarship. The Royal College has been central to British composition in the 20th century, with Britten, Holst, Vaughan Williams, Tippett and Howells all passing through its doors.

He became Head of Composition at the Royal College of Music Junior Department in 1994, and was a Senior Lecturer at London University's Birkbeck College, before joining the Music Department at the University of Hertfordshire. Other compositional and academic appointments have included a Visiting Professorship at the State University of New York (International Summer School), as well as regular ongoing conducting masterclasses at Cambridge University. Timothy Blinko became full-time at the University of Hertfordshire in the newly created role of Associate Head of Music in 2001 before becoming Head of Music in 2006. This is the most beautiful collection of sacred music. I particularly wanted the piece Memorare, having heard it at Tewkesbury Abbey; to be introduced to the other compositions on the CD had been an absolute joy! Your excellent service has been great! Many thanks.
