EDE is Ear Diorama Ear's first CD. A blend of Japanese and English lyrics written and sung by Kaoru Mansour is melded with loops, samples and processing. Alan Nakagawa improvises using his invention, the Iso Cube; a insulated box that has two holes where he can reach in and play micro percussion like a hair comb, leaves, sheets of paper or tiny found objects. Nakagawa also plays circuit bent electronics and uses field recordings. The mix is an unusual blend of songs, dark melodies, multi-hued textures and poly-rhythmic pulses. This collection of electro-acoustic urban folk songs is heavily influenced by the works of Harry Partch, Laurie Anderson and the Los Angeles Free Music Society.
