EARL CARTER - BIOGRAPHY

Earl Carter is a Washington, DC based Guitarist, Bassist, and Saxophonist, whose multi-faceted talent, professionalism, and star-quality has officially sent him into the class “world-renowned”.

In the late 80’s and early 90’s, Earl secured his spot as a member of the platinum selling Go-Go group, Experience Unlimited, commonly known as EU, where he recorded music for the soundtrack to “Do The Right Thing”, a Spike Lee’s production. As a result of those experiences, Earl began getting more involved with studio production. He began to produce musical projects for local and national artists, as well as, co-produce dialogue recordings for such names as Les Brown, Willie Jolley, George Fraser, and famous athletes Jawan Howard, and Nikki McCray.

Over the years, Earl has performed with many artists, local, national, and international. He is one of the few guitarists who perform on stage while switching from lead guitar to bass guitar. As a freelance musician, he has worked with Marcus Johnson, Alyson Williams, Bobby Lyle, Freddie Jackson, Angela Bofill, Regina Belle, Sy Smith, Bob Baldwin, Tony Terry, as well as being a solo opening act for Pieces of a Dream, Spyro Gyra, Bona Fide, and others.

Earl performs regularly at the legendary jazz club Blues Alley and many other historic venues in DC and Maryland. He also performed for The National Smooth Jazz Awards (’02), The Bermuda Jazz Festival (’02 & ’03), The Ghana Jazz Festival (’03), and several other televised concerts and festivals. Earl has also been the featured performer for several radio stations, WJZW 105.9, WSMJ 104.3, 95.9 FM, and 102.3 FM. As a front man, Earl’s band, “The Carter Project” displays other world-class musicians and consistently gives the audience a spectacular show. Recently he has spearheaded his personal CD project “Welcome Back Carter” (In stores April 2013).

Currently Earl is lead guitar player for The X-Posure Band, who was handpicked by one of the wealthiest men in the world, Sheik Mohammed Hussein Al-Amoudi, to be the featured band at the five-star hotel, The Sheraton Addis in Ethiopia. He recently returned from his fifth three month stay in Ethiopia. Earl performs and travels often and is always looking for his next musical challenge.

SmoothJazz.com Review
He’s a seriously hot player and one of the busiest Go-To guys in the Baltimore-D.C. music community. Earl's one of the few guitarists out there who perform on stage while switching between lead guitar and bass guitar. His fantastic, new project, WELCOME BACK CARTER, will show you exactly why Earl Carter is in such high demand! This exceptional guitarist/bassist/saxophonist has done it again with his latest album and the leadoff single, Johnny Guitar Watson’s “A Real Mother for Ya.” Earl describes this new release as “old school & hip hop Smooth Jazz,” and it includes both compelling originals plus a few covers, including the iconic “Summertime” and Maxwell’s “Ascension.” As I mentioned in my 2007 review of his album MY PARADISE, Earl’s got the chops, he’s got the sound, he’s got the savvy.” and WELCOME BACK CARTER will easily supercharge the momentum this exceptional talent has built over the years!
