"In Err or Man, chaos and clarity are pulled from one magician's hat and the musical sleight of hand continuously delights and surprises. This is deep music. This is fun music. I don't know what or who the Ear Reverends sound like but I know I like it."

"Err or Man is a bounty of contradictions. At times a low-fi garage band alternating with highly orchestrated pop, early punk and moments of 70’s funk. Made to fit any mood that you could possibly have. It's like everything and nothing you've ever heard."

-Lisa Lutz

***

First the right brained version:

Laundromats in the dark
discounted voodoo shoes
vinyl lounge
stop go; repeated neon blink

get with the syncopation
abandon to repetition
rhythm that echoes pattern
pattern that eradicates fear of eradication

becomes entropy, dissonance
dissolving self, the self that is afraid of dissonance
drunken fairground attraction
jazz improv

LA punk circa 1979
car lights on the freeway
the Partridge Family
a slight pinch

ragged raga
vintage cowboy boots
order becomes chaos, chaos becomes order
a little boy seeks the balance

---

And then the left brained version (well, not exactly--when listening to your music I find I am not capable of one!):

"This is a dark urban cookie, roots music that remembers growing up in LA in the 1970s with local punk, tambourine optimism and the Sunset strip. A small boy wanders through the cacophony seeking place and becomes enmeshed in the order he seeks. His urge for freedom creates a problem: how to be, here?

"Electronic instruments compete with his voice. He brings in other patterns and sounds, Indian, jazz and folk. He finds some resolution: order becomes chaos, chaos becomes order, and by abandoning himself to this endless cycle he learns to find his place."

-Eve Tonkin

---

"Reflecting absolutely the universe they are a reflection of, the Ear Reverends multi-pronged, fun-house style is a seething and nimble flirtation with the dignified absence of style itself in a kind of exalted expression of something much cooler than style, I'm talking true singularity of sound and vision.

"In Err or Man, chaos and clarity are pulled from one magician's hat and the musical sleight of hand continuously delights and surprises. This is deep music. This is fun music. Something is happening here. I don't know what or who the Ear Reverends sound like but I know I like it!"
