Album Notes

earsauce is an ongoing project of members Evan Valentine and Steve Bower. The two band members met years before the nearly-accidental formation of the band, and their friendship is much broader than just being bandmates. Band duties are split evenly (they are both multi-instrumentalists, songwriters, and vocalists) with the exception of very few elements. Thus far, over half of the songs released are instrumental in nature.

Our aim is to combine all music styles that we admire, oftentimes in the same song. The acoustic guitars combine with such enhancements as breakbeats, synthesizers, and all manner of various and unique sound accompaniment. It is our desire to please each listener with a one-of-a-kind listening experience; each hearing the same music, but each hearing it distinctively different. Sound incredible? Listen and see what we mean.

Excellent Folk CD

The excellent Folk CD, “Story So Far, The,” by Earsauce, is overflowing with beautiful songs that will seep gently into your soul. The talented duo, Evan Valentine and Steve Bower, really know how to comprise an album of well crafted music. Each song has a different groove and one can’t help but sit back and enjoy these delight songs. Opening up the album the song, “Beyond a Broken Dream,” is sweet and delicate in style as the percussive drums keep a rhythmic beat while the soothing melody calms your inner being. Another song, “Sultans of Salad,” offers charming lyrics, sweet vocals, and a fun bouncy rhythm. “Criterion,” is another track that ignites with a rich musical complexity. Changing up the musical style, “Where’s My Lime?,” has a mellow, kick back and relax tonality. If you are searching for an album that has a terrific mix of relaxing music, then you will truly enjoy the wonderful songs on the marvelous album, “Story So Far, The.”

Right from the very beginning, the first song on the album wraps you up in a soft and warm ambience that is immensely easy to listen to. “Beyond a Broken Dream” has a solid back beat with smooth harmony from the vocals. The album moves right along without missing a beat in between each song so it is constantly feeding delicious treats to your ears. Approaching midway through the album, we come across “Criterion”. This was my favorite song on the album because of its rhythmic electro beat accompanied by a quirky and upbeat violin that is rarely seen in this genre of music. The sound that was created here in this album is so unique and unusual in the MOST welcomed way. With each song, you are wondering what is going to happen next. There are 20 Songs on the album and it still keeps you wanting more! Love it!
