ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"The music from Charlotte, NC's Earthshine is a bit like a stripped down Coldplay on a Jesus and Mary Chain trip. "Follow You" is both popish and highly emotive, while "Melody" begins with lush acoustic pickings before morphing into a seething growling beast. Vocals to the nod of Chris Martin, inventive songwriting and potent rhythms in the proper dosage underline the fact that this is a trio to watch out for."

-Mark E. Waterbury, VP Media Relations/Freelance Writer Sergeland Records

Earthshine was formed in 2002 by guitarist/lyricist Troy Taylor and bassist Richard Lewis. With the addition of drummer Keith Smith later that year, the band hit a creative stride and became a fixture in Charlotte, NC music venues and surrounding areas. With band members from such diverse locales as California, Ohio and even Germany Earthshine is truly representative of rock fans with wide-ranging tastes.

The group's blend of raw, introspective lyrics and rich melodies gives them a uniquie sound that appeals to a large cross section of audiences. Dynamic rhythms with creative timing and chord progression give their music a distinctive feel and a reminescence of how rock music used to sound. Avoiding the homogenized, over-processed tone of so much American popular music, the band turns out songs that can be beautiful, raucous, mellow or all at the same time.

Owing to that artistic freedom and independent spirit, Earthshine has received media attention from several outlets including UNC-Asheville college radio and Clearchannel Radio's 106.5 The End. With the recent release of their first full-length studio album, Earthshine is poised to explode. Their fan base has grown exponentially in the last few months through online and local promotion and word of mouth endorsement.

The enthusiastic review quoted above of Earthshine's 4-song promotional EP is representative of the buzz surrounding the group. As their base grows and solidifies, Earthshine will continue to explore their own unique musical style and further define themselves as a group that deserves a spin.
