Album Notes

In March 2011 Marc Halbheer was invited to be an artist in residence at the jazz club Moods in Zurich (CH). This was the opportunity to unite Milcho Leviev (p), Pantelis Stoikos (tp/kav), Yiotis Kiourtsoglou (b) and Marc Halbheer (d) for a concert. All the musicians brought along some original music and after a short rehearsal, played the concert that you hear on this recording.

When players perform together for the first time there is often an edge to the energy in the music. In this situation musicians are more apt to act and react in very spontaneous ways. They leave it up to the music of the moment to decide where it wants to go, far from trying to get everything perfect like in a recording studio. This creates a special magic that often is missing in recordings. On this recording that special energy is captured and here is for you a wonderful document of a special evening of musical invention!
