notes

January 1, 2005 was a date to remember here in Colorado.

The sudden cancellation of the "R&B Jukebox" was both surprising and disappointing to the blues fans of the Rocky Mountain region, and the sounds of the Golden Age of Rhythm & Blues blaring out of radios everywhere came to a halt. A seven-plus year Saturday night staple was no more.

Easy Bill, who had hosted the show for over two years, hoped that fans of the music would Stay Tuned for what was next...

And they did.

Now a new Saturday night tradition is being born as blues fans, swing dancers, and roots-rockers alike have been hittin' the clubs to enjoy the good-time sounds of Easy Bill & The Big Beat, quickly making a name for themselves as a guaranteed fun night out.

Appearances at clubs along the Front Range, as well as a headlining show on the Swing Stage at the annual Denver People's Fair and serving as host band for such events as the "Mile High Blues Harmonica Blowdown" and the popular "Sweethearts of the Blues" all-girl revue, have helped to solidify the band's reputation as an up and coming act doing their part to keep the blues thriving well into the 21st century.

The 2003 release of their debut album "Midnight Creep" earned favorable reviews and debuted on the Living Blues Radio Charts at #18. Their sophomore effort, appropriately titled "Stay Tuned!" marks the maturation of a band beginning to hit their stride.

Recorded at Rancho de Rhythm in Elgin, Illinois, "Stay Tuned!" was produced by two-time W.C. Handy Award nominee Nick Moss and engineered by fellow Flip-Top Gerry Hundt, both of whom make guest appearances on the album. "Stay Tuned!" features covers of songs by the likes of Guitar Slim, Piano Red, Little Milton, and Red Prysock, alongside tunes penned by Easy Bill & The Big Beat. The band includes Easy Bill Towber on guitar and vocals, RD Jones on bass, Mark Richardson on pinao and organ, Ken Plum on saxophone, and Chris Beers on drums and percussion.

The CD was officially released September 6, 2005 on Rhythm & Roll Records. For more information and to keep in touch with the band please visit their website at www.BigBeatBlues.com.
