Album Notes

Wives is Eaters fourth release and stylistically a follow up to Digest, Eaters first album released in 2004. It can be described as rap music but more in the same bracket as early anticon labels output. Raps are provided by Quiet Man (Watchmaker) and Laughing Gear. Production is a group affair. Cutting is provided by Eaters newest member Dopeamean Jim and shared with Edinburgh club landmark eh1.

‘Dark’ is a term usually associated with Eaters output but Wives tempers this with softer moments and melodies on tracks such as Thought for the Day and Barracuda. However, the darkness is still present in tracks like Bile Duct and Hand of 1000 Bitchslaps.

Subject matter ranges from rants at hip hop, at advertising, at consumerism, at people in general (execute), to being a mechanical / biological mutant (Deformities).

Overall, Wives is the sum of experience from making a hip hop (Digest), an electro (Optimum) and an electronica album (Watchmaker – Co Axial Escapement). It provides a fast moving, unique, hip hop experience from a Scottish group improving with each release
