Our beautiful, undiscovered soulful R&B artist- CT’s Goldmine
Born and raised in the Greater New Haven area, Ebony began singing at age 4 around the house with her family. From African spirituals to folk songs and gospel, she was learning the basics of sound and harmony at this very ripe age.
Although family members would tell Ebony she was destined to entertain, she was oblivious of her ability until she was told that she had earned her first solo in the church choir at age 10. According to the singer, it was not until she opened her mouth that night that she realized her own vocal capability. According to close sources, it was described as a piercing soprano similar to that of young Michael Jackson. “I couldn't even believe what was happening”, Ebony says.
Due to changes in her vocal sound after adolescence, Ebony became fearful that she would not be accepted because her voice wasn't the same. Her focused was geared toward finishing college and becoming a Social Worker. After graduating from Albertus Magnus College in 2010, Ebony teamed up with New England renowned Morris Trent Band. She enjoyed marrying her soulful vocal effect with the band’s mix of Blues, Funk, and Jazz sounds. She traveled with the band playing various socially lucrative venues including the Freddie Fixer Jazz Brunch, Alpha Kappa Alpha Wine Tasting/Silent Auction, University of New Haven events, and Live Band Nights.
For a short time, Ebony took a hiatus from singing altogether to concentrate on family life, when she was asked to perform as opening act for Mary McBride during the CT Home Tour, at which time she caught the attention of CT hip-hop artist Kayzure Sakar who signed her to his entertainment company Sakar Entertainment. The meeting would prove to be fate at its best as Ebony began her quest to stardom with KSC Management Group.
Ebony’s portfolio includes cover material by respected industry voices including Chaka Khan, Adele, Beyonce, Luther Vandross, and Lauryn Hill. With determination to ignite her creativity, she has begun to work collaboratively with Sakar Entertainment to produce new material. Recent singles include “Paradise” and “Picture Text”. Leaving fans with wanting more after her recent performance at Toad's Place, Ebony has a great desire to give back to her city and make New Haven proud by entering into the industry with subtlety, elegance , and
