Album Notes

Eugene Byrne is first and foremost an entertainer. During his long career he has worn various performing hats, but in every guise, he is an entertainer.
Show business is not new to Eugene Byrne. He came to North America for the first time in 1967, playing Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden and a coast-to-coast tour of Canada and the USA with the Irish Rovers.

He later became entertainment manager for Harp and Bard Inc., a chain of Irish pubs in the Boston area. He subsequently took over Harp & Bard Productions representing Tommy Makem. Eugene and Tommy still work together at Irish Festivals, concerts, cruises and on tours to Ireland.

Eugene Byrne's act is good, polished and professional. His performance is music and laughs, life and carousing, enthusiasm and careful consideration of a poignant lyric. Eugene is at his best in front of a live audience, and the key to his success is the pleasant and warm feeling he can generate in an audience.A major focus for Eugene is customizing tours to Ireland. Eugene extends a warm Irish welcome to the many diverse groups he brings to Ireland. For over 17 years he has been customizing tours and sharing his love of Ireland through Songs and Stories.

Eugene brings Ireland's history and culture to life by sharing his knowledge with those that travel with him. His love of Ireland and his love of music is an unbeatable combination.

A relisten of our recent beautiful trip
author: Bill and Julie S
I purchased two of Eugene's CD's and they are great Irish music on their own. But, we just got back from a trip with SMI Tours to NorthEastern Ireland. Eugene came along and added so much to the trip. On nights out in Belfast/Derry/LondonDerry we had our own musician/s at the pubs. We heard several of the songs on the CD's on the trip. The songs are great and the discussions we had as we traveled around Ireland added meaning and context. He understands and has deep feelings about the songs he sings. I travel and can listen/re-live the trip as the songs play.

Never Get Tired of Listening!
author: Ray
Bought this CD from Eugene at the Black Rose a couple of years ago. Have listened to it repeatedly since and never get tired of it. Wonderful mix of "standards" and stuff we'd never heard before; all done in his great style with good arrangements and musicality. Just bought his new one.
