"These ladies have what it takes...They rock, no doubt about it...Their music is all original and with two lead guitarists they can fill up any song." - India Blue - Journalist, The Hartford Advocate 2001
echo JANES is a powerful five piece all-female Hartford, Connecticut-based original rock band. Along with their diverse musical influences ranging from The Cult to David Bowie and Fleetwood Mac, to Toad The Wet Sprocket, Janes Addiction and Stevie Ray Vaughn, the band uniquely blends acoustic and electric guitars, excellent songwriting, a driving rhythm section and catchy musical hooks, making their music difficult to categorize and even more difficult to forget. Known for their rich two and three-part vocal harmonies, their ability to incorporate three electric guitar parts in any given song combined with their rock/blues/folk influences, echo JANES has drawn musical comparisons to bands like Sister Hazel, The Indigo Girls, and classic rock band Lynryd Skynyrd.
Originally formed in 1992, throughout the years echo JANES has had the opportunity to share the stage with such national acts as Concrete Blonde, Jonatha Brooke, Janis Ian, Tribe, The BoDeans, Universal Honey, Clarence Clemons, Nils Lofgren, The Commitments and others. echo JANES has been nominated in the 1992 Hartford Advocate's Grand Band Slam reader's poll as "Best New Band", "Best Original Band", and "Best Alternative Band". In 1996 the band was again nominated for "Best New Band" and "Best Alternative Band".
After re-forming in 2001, this cohesive creative unit continues to transcend many musical styles and yet maintain an original sound that's reminiscent of the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. Mixing some older newly refined material with newer music, echo JANES was well received in their come-back performance at THE WEBSTER THEATER in Hartford, CT, when they opened a show for national recording artist Jonatha Brooke, once again establishing themselves as a force to be recognized within the music scene. The band has made two live appearances on WIN-TV, a Connecticut based cable access channel. In May of 2002 echo JANES performed and were first runner's-up in the "Out of the Garage-Battle of the Bands IV" competition, taking many new spectators by surprise with their entertaining stage presence, originality and musicality. The band was also nominated to receive the Connecticut Rock Music Award in the musicianship category. In 2003 echo JANES released their first full length CD as well as a music video for their song "Break It Down". The band receives radio and web radio airplay throughout the country.
echo JANES continues to perform live and are currently planning on recording another CD.

A flawless blending of good original music, angelic harmony and just a damn good time. They put 110% into making rockin' good music that you want to listen to over and over! A totally unique sound that has you tapping your foot and singing along wishing your voice sounded like this. From head bobbing rock to mellow, soulful ballads to socially conscious topics, these girls will knock your socks off and leave you sitting with your mouth hanging open and saying, "I've got to hear it again."
