Album Notes

Eduardo’s classical music debut Looking for Thread, A Needle Got Lost is both pensive and bold. Listeners expecting to sit back, relax and sip their cup of tea or coffee while listening to this powerful medley of songs will be shaken and mistaken. Instead they will find a maelstrom of emotions and robust stringed modulations. The cello and piano are showcased on several of the pieces and set against woven landscapes of violins, brass and woodwinds. The open-ended, minimalist and syncopated melodies take the listener on an exotic odyssey of longing and cathartic introspection, while powerful rhythms anchor the pieces and listeners to earth and soul. Pensive and brooding stringed solos, like the one in The Dreamer’s Walk, are contrasted by vast symphonic overtures.

Eduardo’s free, yet well-framed style is his undaunted experimentation and exploration. The seventh and eighth tracks, for example, are a study of variations on a single theme. The counterpointed tracks begin with the sultry piano solo of Evento De Nieve 1 that cuts the silence like a massive plough moving through a placid field of grass. Evento De Nieve 2 takes the energy of its brighter twin on a detour into a dark and brooding musical tale. The pairing of musical events continues in the final piece Hope, where the climax and coda of the album come together in a flurry of violins, brass and woodwinds. The unconventional format of the composition and emotional empathy that Looking for Thread, A Needle Got Lost is able to conjure leaves the listener buzzing long after the final piece comes to a close.

I LOVE track 7, (Eviento de nieve). and 8. I was just listening in my room as I cleaned and I realized I was doing this wierd, sad little dance. The song is so full of particular feelings that are hard to express: trying, hoping, akward attempts. People keep trying to reach out, but every time they try somehow it is more ridiculous, but it is imposible and wrong to stop trying so you do it again. At least this is what the musical patterns evoke for me. It's really sopisticated. I love it. I really like how the album started with decisive suprise on the first track. Congradulations again and Thank you!
