Album Notes

The long awaited sophomore release from one of Nashville’s most respected guitarists shows off fresh sides to this musician’s distinctive style. Shifting effortlessly from the sky scraping "Bldg. 55" to the burning title cut. Cottage City Firehouse covers a wide range of musical innovation.

On Cottage City Rich brought in some of his favorite musicians to blow on the embers and make his music blaze. Close friend and Bassist Sean O’Brian Smith ( Billy Ray Cyrus, Rodney Atkins, Solo Artist) lends his Groove-ness to several of the tracks. Ringing a Second Alarm Rich also called in Miranda Lambert Bassist Aden Bubeck to play on “Chicken Fingers“. For the Piano duties Rich borrowed Shannon Wickline from Country Star James Otto and only had to turn around to find Toby Keith’s powerhouse Horn section Roman Dudok, Carl Murr and Willie Roy Jr. to blister the title track. He additionally relied once again on Keith’s Hammond master Rex Mauney to spin another stellar Organ performance.

Firehouse includes nine brand new songs and features Rich’s intoxicating cover of The Champs classic hit Tequila.

New CD

The new cd is excellent. Great grooves and melodies, it sounds to me like your writing has progressed forward from the Soundcheck CD. I can hear the Vai and Gatton influence in your playing. I really liked the song variety, it isn't just one style and your tones are fantastic. I think you nailed the Jeff Beck sound and tone in Redshift 6.4 As always your acoustic playing is happening, you are a great all-around player. I can't say enough good things, great job. This cd needs to be heard.

It's the guitar tone along with the melodies that makes your stuff so cool. I have a new favorite track every time I listen. This time its "The Long Way Home". Definately a little edgier (if that's a word) than Soundcheck but truly showcases your guitar playing/song writing skills. It has elements of rock, southern rock, country, jazz, acoustic, and the blues. Listening, you can feel the emotion in the songs. I could see several of the songs as movie tracks. For what it's worth - I love it!
