Classical Contemporary Chamber Music for the 21st Century Volume 1 is our initial recording of works for the Essex Chamber Music Players (“ECMP”). The compositions represent a variety of music styles by American composers: the neo-impressionism of J. Windel Brown, free atonal expressionism of Elaine Erickson, neo-classicism of Emma Lou Diemer (though her other works have been described as eclectic, modern, and some are actually serial), and the Eastern Indian influenced Western music style of Marc W. Rossi. The Essex Chamber Music Players is under the Artistic Direction of flutist Michael G. Finegold. Our motto is Music for the Twenty-first Century: Treasures of the Past, New Music Premieres. ECMP’s Inauguration concert was at Northern Essex Community College, Haverhill, Massachusetts in 2000 with a residency established in 2006. We are active in the Merrimack Valley and Essex County cultural life.
The core instrumentation of ECMP is flute, cello and piano with other performers added. We commission composers, and collaborate with historical organizations in the Merrimack Valley and Essex County in our unique project Preserving Local Cultural History Through Music. In 2006 we received recognition for our historical work by the Essex National Heritage Commission.
This is an enhanced CD. When inserted into the computer disk slot two volumes will appear, one for music files and the other for texts to the poems and composers’ and musicians’ bios.
