Album Notes

ACID CABARET plays a mix of music for those who like their music mixed. Pianist/vocalist Ed Alstrom and his trio (featuring the explosive and highly creative talents of Jeff Ganz on bass and Don Guinta on drums) play a bewilderingly eclectic assortment of tunes in their unique style, drawing on Broadway, blues, R&B, cabaret, standards, Classic rock, New Orleans music, novelty items, jazz, opera, quirky originals, and whatever else they can bend to their own acidic ends.

It's all arranged and rendered with considerable spirit, finesse, and authority. Harnessing the diversity and energy of a bar band, the proficiency and complexity of a jazz band, with the elegance and intimacy of a cabaret act? The music speaks most convincingly for itself.

The group has completed its first CD, entitled (appropriately) "Acid Cabaret," with a solid 68 minutes of the broad range of impressively performed music that they are starting to turn some heads with.

Ed Alstrom has played with Bette Midler, Herbie Hancock, Chuck Berry, Lou Rawls, Steely Dan, Stanley Jordan, Phoebe Snow, Darlene Love, Ronnie Spector, Dion, Chubby Checker, Eddie Fisher, Al Kooper, Eddie Brigati, Uncle Floyd, Rick Danko, Cyndi Lauper, Bernard Purdie, Levon Helm, and many others. Studied Church Organ at Westminster Choir College (?!); has played on Broadway and off-B'way; and recorded and toured extensively.
