Album Notes

Eddie Cantor was number one in every area of his immense career. He started in vaudeville and became a major star of the Ziegfeld Follies. He began recording in 1917 for the Victor label and made records throughout his entire life. Some of his hits include "Makin Whoopee,""Ida,""If You Knew Susie" and "Ma! He's Makin Eyes At Me." He became the top rated radio show in 1931 and had a show right through the 60s. He discovered such stars as Dinah Shore and Eddie Fisher. He started the March of Dimes and made billions for charity. He became a movie star with his films for Samuel Goldwyn such as "Whoopee,""Kid Millions,""Palmy Days,""The Kid From Spain" and "Roman Scandals" (where he gave Lucille Ball her big start.) He wrote a few songs including "Merrily We Roll Along" (the Bugs Bunny cartoon theme!) He wrote many best selling books including two autobiographies "My Life Is In Your Hands" and "Take My Life" (now back in print thru Cooper Square Press.) He was given an honorary Oscar in 1957 and died in 1964. This is a 3 CD collection of six of the best radio broadcasts of the Eddie Cantor Radio Show with famous guest stars and digitally remastered.
