ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Eddie Duran at the top of his game, started his professional guitar career at 15, and in the heyday of the San Francisco bebop scene. He played and recorded with such Fantasy stars as Vince Guaraldi, Red Norvo, and Cal Tjader, as well as with Charlie Parker, Stan Getz. George Shearing, Earl "Fatha" Hines, Benny Goodman, Barbra Streisand and Pearl Bailey. In 1980's Eddie recorded three albums as a leader for Concord Jazz Records, two of them nominated for Grammy Awards.

Listen to Eddie Duran play and you?ll hear a master jazz guitarist creating exciting lines within a sophisticated chord structure. His improvisational and melodic ideas are indicative of an artful style that uses the guitar in a pianistic fashion. His rhythmic bass figures move beneath moving-voice chords and punctuate exquisite extemporaneous ideas. Relatively few players in the past several decades have equaled his guitaristic prowess. He?s not as well known as he deserves to be and any serious player who hears his recordings will wonder why.

Eddie Rides Again, Alone
Eddie is my Jazz Guitar idol. He has a beautiful fluid style of playing that is true to the music and the instrument. This is a very personal album which should be listen to in the evening with a glass of wine. It's that good!
