After becoming the lead singer for the Evolution band, I was offered a recording contract with New York’s best cuatro player, Yomo Toro. The bands hit song Musica Para El Mundo Entero was a worldwide hit. Recording my first album with Fania records provided me the opportunity to meet an audition with Ray Barretto and Louie Ramirez. Throughout the years, I became a soloist with several of Connecticut's best salsa groups and Latin musicians, including Salsa America and Orchestra Mikata. I also had the opportunity to team up with my son Edwin Rivera Jr., who is a talented piano player and arranger, to record our first album Llegando a La Distancia with Mambo City records.
