Album Notes

William Eddins is the Resident Conductor of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the first in its 111-year history and a frequent guest conductor of major orchestras throughout the world. In September of 2002 he will become the Principal Guest Conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland.

In March of 2000 Eddins received the Seaver/NEAConducting Award, a triennial grant of $50,000 awarded to exceptionally gifted young American conductor. He is conductor and host of a video entitled "On the Day You Were Born" with the Minnesota Orchestra. Based on the children's book of the same name by author/illustrator Debra Frasier, the work is for narrator and orchestra and was composed by Steve Heitzeg. Since its release it has sold over 30,000 copies worldwide.

Although focusing on his career as a conductor, Eddins continues his work as a pianist and chamber musician. He regularly conducts from the piano in works by Mozart, Beethoven, Gershwin and Ravel. He is founder and artistic director of the Prospect Park Players, a chamber music series based at Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota. In 2002 he performed on the prestigious Chicago Symphony Orchestra's "Symphony Center Presents" piano recital series.

Bad Boys, Volume 1 is the first release on Imhotep Records, a small classical recording company based in Minneapolis, Mn. The goal of the company is to record the best young classical musicians, market their product, and return all of the profits to the artists.

I loved it!

I really loved the CD and especially the fun "attitude" of Bill on the cover and with the addition of the rag piece. It was wonderful to hear one of my oldest and dearest friends play! I only wish I could see him play and conduct in person! The CD is great! Keep on putting them out, Bill! Looking forward to Volume II!
