Album Notes

Eddy Navia - Born in Potosí Bolivia, Eddy is a composer and one of the greatest exponents and master virtuosos of the charango, a traditional Bolivian stringed instrument. He is considered one of the three greatest charangists in the history of Bolivian music. Eddy became Sukay's artistic director in 1989, and he brought the musicianship of the group to new heights. Since his joining, the group has won the NAIRD Indie award for the best world/international music and has continued to bring in the best musicians such as David Grisman in collaborations of new music composed by Eddy He was a founding member of the famous Bolivian group Savia Andina, with whom he recorded 35 albums. Savia Andina was a major force in bringing Andean music into the mainstream, hitting the Top 40 charts. Navia has also recorded eight solo albums, the latest endeavor entitled Mozart En Machu Picchu. This original effort on Eddy's part features some of the classics from Mozart, Rossini, and Schumann, plus an original composition in the bluegrass tradition of David Grisman and Doc Watson, all playing on traditional Andean instruments. Eddy was the first artist to perform classical music on the traditional charango and his first two albums were Bolivia and the Andes best selling recordings for those years.

What can you do with $15....Buy the best CD on the market! Have you ever wondered what a Charango is? Do you like blue grass, classical, CW if so this is a CD you must have. The only down side is that if you have seen Eddy live in Bolivia or elsewhere you will really miss the 'feel' of the live show. The Tarantella is a 'Best of show' in my humble opinion. It really showcases the Charango and Eddy! Don't miss Tiahuanaco Bluegrass with Pan pipes, awesome! Enjoy
