Album Notes

Ed and Geraldine bring toe-tapping music with Singing, Fiddle and Guitar to audiences of all ages. Their Old-Time Music has it’s roots in our Early American country heritage. Audiences enjoy happy, lively tunes while children and adults often participate by playing along with a variety of rhythm instruments such as spoons, dancing puppets on a stick (other-wise known as paddywacks or limberjacks), bells, maracas, and washboards. The fun and liveliness of their musical performances are enhanced by a diversity of tempo, playing hoe-downs, polkas, jigs, reels, waltzes, square dance tunes, schottisches, quadrilles, other traditional favorites, and sweet vocals by Geraldine. Songs like “Turkey in the Straw,” “Old Dan Tucker," and “The Golden Slippers,” keep both young and old smiling and asking for more!

Ed and Geraldine are recording artists and have had many TV appearances, including a major role in the award-winning PBS TV documentary, “A Journey to the Endless Mountains,” which airs throughout the USA. As ‘field representatives’ of the American Folk Life Center of the Library of Congress, they have recorded over 30 old-time fiddlers for the Library’s Archives of Folk Song, a project set up by their teacher, the late World Champion Fiddler, Jehile B.Kirkhuff of Rush, PA. The Governor’s Heritage Affairs Commission of Pennsylvania has recognized the couple as “practitioners of a living art form reflecting the highest aesthetic quality.”

This husband and wife ‘duo’ enjoy a rural country lifestyle at their homestead outside of Montrose, Pennsylvania when they are not touring with their motorhome presenting programs for fairs, festivals, schools, libraries, churches, and other community events. They have developed a variety of programs for stage and as strolling minstrels for children, seniors, and general audiences. Ed and Geraldine enjoy sharing, teaching and preserving the richness of our country’s musical traditions.
