Album Notes

Neotokyo is the debut CD release of Australian composer Ed Harrison.

This instrumental release draws from a wide array of influences, from post-rock to classic minimalism to IDM and atmospheric electronica. There is a focus on mood and atmosphere, with the intention of drawing the listener into a unique and cohesive world.

'Neotokyo' is a source mod (computer game) developed by a small group of dedicated artists over a period of around five years. This two-CD set, containing around two and a half hours of music, is a musical interpretation of the game world and setting, and has been designed not only to provide a musical context for the game, but also a rich and cathartic listening experience as an album. It is not just a soundtrack, but a true double album, and contains around an hour of music not bundled with the game.

Note: This double CD is a limited run, it won't be available forever! If CDBaby list as out-of-stock, however, it should become available again shortly. When the CDs actually run out, this listing will be modified to reflect that.

came in the mail this mornin and i'm blown away. even after listening to the sample mp3s and the ones that come with the game, I didn't expect the CD quality to feel SO much more layered and deep. Worth the wait and definitely going to be listening to this for a while to come. Nails the atmosphere dead-on. Superb work, Ed

Since hearing the first pre-listenings I was very curious and knew that I have to get my hands on this. And I wasn't wrong! This is also a great example of how things (videogame, music) start to melt together until they're an entity. This and more gets more and more clear once you start listeing to the tracks. Thanks for your effort creating this truly outstanding music masterpiece.

Heard about the mod NeoTokyo on Sunday, brought the OST on Monday. Wonderful. Best album I've listened to in a year.
