Equally energetic and intimate, Love Bossa moves from the samba rhythms of “So Danco Samba” to the luscious and wistful arrangement of “The Girl from Ipanema" sung in original Brazilian Portuguese...passionate, sexy, soulful, and upbeat Bossa.
Produced and Recorded at Baker Studios in Victoria, BC, Canada by Joby Baker whose production credits include Grammy and Juno award winning artists, this album features a smooth mix of Bossa Nova standards from composers, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Jorge Ben, Ronaldo Boscoli and Luiz Bonfa. Edie DaPonte sings with John MacArthur on guitar, Joey Smith on Bass, Roy Styffe on Sax and Joby Baker on backing vocals, percussion, piano and bass. Influenced by Edie’s Portuguese roots, most of the tracks are sung in Brazilian Portuguese blending beautifully with John’s creative latin stylings.
. The last 2 tracks are originals. Of note is “Broken Dreams” which is the only track sung in English. It’s a lament for lost opportunities and a request to never give up on your dreams.
