ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The Edisons are a four piece, Tampa, Florida based, band specializing in classic power pop songs. Their songs echo the sounds of The Beatles, Tom Petty, REM and The Romantics, melding equal parts rock and pop.

" Lost In The Dream " was recorded from March thru October at Zen Recording Studio. Produced by Steve Connelly and the band, the Cd features 13 finely crafted songs that range from straight ahead rockers like " The Flame " to shadows of the British Invasion in " Dangerous Girl ". There is also the taste of the bands alternative side on " Just For You " and " Call On Me "

" Lost In The Dream " embodies the songwriting input of the members of band. The diversity in the songwriting styles adds an added dimension to the tracks and offers an insight into the individual influences that each member brings.

Ultimately there are two tracks that really define the CD. The first is the title track " Lost In The Dream ". This pulls its influences from two classic rock albums. The Beatles " Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band " and Pink Floyds " Dark Side Of The Moon " A haunting tale of how we are all lost in our own dream, and searching for definition and strength in our lives.

" Seven Minutes " is a stark but hopeful reflection of a tragic incident. This song is dedicated and inspired by Adam Walsh, who was abducted and murdered on Florida's east coast in July of 1981.

" Lost In The Dream " is a collection of songs filled with thought-provoking lyrics and melodies that will swim in your head.

Lost In The Dream - by the Edisons. Okay, I mentioned this disc in last month's column … but this superb disc merits an encore endorsement. If I had heard this disc last year, it would have been a solid Top Ten contender in 2004. From start ("The Start") to finish ("Leaving" a terrific finale with a pumped-up "Heart Full of Soul" riff), this is one fine pop album. When tracks don't glisten with jangly guitar riffs, they still chime and overflow with catchy melodies and hooks. "Just For You" may be the most notable of the chiming tracks, but every track is a winner. I hear occasional references to the Rumors, Dom Mariani and DM3 and Diesel Park West - that means that this disc will stand the test of time.

Tampa's The Edisons offer a respite to listeners worn down by the self-pity and
Tampa's The Edisons offer a respite to listeners worn down by the self-pity and cynicism of contemporary commercial rock. ``Lost in the Dream,'' even in its darkest moments, holds out hope for a happy ending.

That's apparent from opening track ``The Start.'' The upbeat sentiments are bolstered not only by the lyrics but by the music, particularly the smooth harmonies of the chorus.

The title track is the album's epic, with its appealingly hazy psychedelic touches and hopeful lyrics (I'm not giving in / 'Cause tomorrow may bring skies of blue).

Hints of The Beatles, Cheap Trick and The Cars are apparent. Power pop fans in particular will be susceptible to The Edisons' considerable charms

Lost in The Dream by The Edisons is a great listen. Well produced and a hook waiting around every corner. There are hints of Brit Invasion as well as Alt/Country in these songs. A stand out track is January, with a well crafted hook and great guitar solo. Solid playing all the way around.
