Album Notes

Ed is from San Antonio where he grew up playing R&B and jazz in private clubs and the service clubs on military bases. By the mid-sixties he was already following the fat-tone "Texas Tenors" when he moved to Austin to fuse his horn with the psychedelic sounds of the day. He co-founded the Hub City Movers in Austin, but soon moved on to join Jimmy Vaughn's original blues band, The Storm. Since then he's been with the W.C. Clark Blues Review, toured with western swing bands Asleep At The Wheel and Alvin Crow and the Pleasant Valley Boys and retro band, Ro-Tel and the Hot Tomatoes. Now he heads up a five-piece combo, still plays gigs with The Little Big Band and leads a section for King Soul, an Austin based R&B act. "Cute" is his first live solo CD.

The project, recorded live at Tequila Mockingbird, features top players, Floyd Domino on piano, Slim Ritchie, guitar, Evan Arrendondo, bass and Art Kidd on drums. Get ready to experience live excitement in the studio--most cuts went down in one take! You'll enjoy it--it's cute.

Ed is a musical magician. Technician, composer, arranger..does it all with style like no other. This delicious album is a tribute to a true master who is (and has been for decades) among the best the Austin music scene has to offer.
