Mat Edwards puts on his whiskey, gravel voice for the bluesy woes of "Tom Coolidge." This particular track has the feel of modern blues-pop done in the Delta blues style where the sassy licks of an acoustic, slide guitar are softened by just a shot of reverb. The open sounding guitar progressions on this track bring these particular blues into the new millennium with just a dash of folk for flavoring.
Edwards' music in general has a "Creed-like" edge with a modern day interpretation of a classic rock sound. When he plays solo though, as he does on "Tom Coolidge," you can hear the heart of a true bluesman. He sings like he lives it and plays like he means it. Whether cranky, mournful, raging or sad, blues are blues no matter how you color them. Edwards colors them with class.

Being a blues fan, I have always been a big favorite of the simple, heartfelt, pain and joy of the music. Much of the material within this cd catches these feelings and takes the listener on a jaunt down memory lane, with suttle reminders of guitar legends Hendrix and Vaughn riffs woven in with playful melodies and souful lyrics. It is a must for any Blues Lover.
