Hi there, thanks for checking out my music! I came to the US in 1999, grew up in The Netherlands. My grandma was a soprano and had a grand piano and I was surrounded by classical music. I taught myself how to play the piano at age 6 and learned how to play recorder and alto recorder. I hated it! I had private and group lessons, and at age 12 I got so tired of those classes that I quit making music altogether. I pursued a basketball career and was pretty successful until I injured my knee at age 21 and that put a stop to that. I bought a guitar because that was cool, fell in love with a guitar player, and started practicing like crazy to impress him. Music was fun after all!! After a year, a friend asked me to sit in on a song, a girl singer in the audience noticed me and asked me to join an all girl band. I was on the roll! In the years to follow, I played in several rock bands in The Netherlands and did some pick up gigs in Germany and Spain. Upon coming to the US in 1999, I discovered The Blues, man did I like that! Since then, I have been playing the blues, mingled with funk, soul and some R&B, and have had the opportunity to share the stage with great musicians in different parts of the world. My guitar play has been described as ‘funky’, ‘soulful’ and ‘engaging’, and my voice has been compared to Susan Tedeschi, Chrissy Hinde and Diana Krall. Some folks call me ‘Buddy Gal’ and I can totally live with that!
