For nearly a decade, Eero front man Derek Bayer shied away from his own creativity. After years of playing bass for St. Louis successes Trip Star and The Adored, the singer/songwriter’s bashful reluctance to reveal himself surrendered with the March ’06 release of Completely Over the Moment, a seven-song compilation reflecting the simple honesty of loss and insecurity. The moody sound scape of dreamy rock and hypnotic vocals capture Bayer’s St. Louis experiences through manipulated synthetic sounds, sweeping guitars, rock rhythms and expressive harmonies. Drawing from Grandaddy, Sparklehorse and Ours, Eero shapes this distinctive sound with Bill Wheeler on drums and Bayer playing the guitar, bass and programming the keys. Live performances limit Bayer’s ability to display the extent of his instrumental talents, but Eero takes risks. The band embraces these limitations with the use of samples, various musicians and occasional performance art. Eero is currently traveling in support of Completely Over the Moment and recording a new album due to release in early 2007.

pretty good
author: Adam Klos
this album is a really good album to listen to while relaxing or trying to cheer up, it reminds me of the mid nineties when smooth alternative music ran rampant through the radio airwaves. the bassist is my teacher and he is a pretty cool guy.
