Efren Camilo was born in Mexico City on September 1979.
At the age of 15 years began playing guitar in many garage bands playing tunes of KISS, Metallica and Guns & Roses. At that time received private tuition from his uncle, jazz drummer Efren Capiz Castañeda. Through these classes and by discovering the music of Joe Satriani and Eric Johnson, began to write musical material by himself, and discovered the versatility and beauty of instrumental music with guitar as main instrument.
In 1997 he joined the Metropolitan Autonomous University (UAM) in Mexico City where he earned the title of Designer of Graphic Communication. Profession that plays at par with the music.
In 2007 began the pre-production of his first musical production entitled "Aquellos días"(Those days), which was officially published in June 2009.
"Frecuencia R", the track that opens the production; has received special mention in the "Web Hordes" column of the Guitar Player magazine.
About “Frecuencia R”:
“The sirens that start this tune are fair warning to the bedlam that follows. Camilo’s steely tone and speedy, articulate riffs wail over a relentless explosion of surfmetal that might just melt your face. At 2:20, he offers a melodic—and merciful—breakdown, but it’s the aggro bits that are true bliss”.
-Michael Molenda (Guitar Player)
