Album Notes
"Just Like a Human Being" is a debut that represents the culmination of a ten-year period of creative development by singer-songwriter John Egan. After stints in Boston and Nashville, John returned home to Providence, Rhode Island, determined to create a musical record of who he was and where he'd been.

Having spent time as principle songwriter and front man for "Apartment Two," "December Sons," "Shades of Black," and "The Nolans," John had a wealth of material with which to work. He began recording demos of his favorites, and a batch of new songs, in his home studio. These demos became the basis for "Just Like a Human Being."

The album deals with basic emotional themes like love and loss, and a search for meaning, set against a simple backdrop of acoustic and electric guitars, bass and drums.

Rather than try to recapture the feeling of the demos in the studio, John decided to keep the basic rhythm tracks, transferred them to digital, then added vocals and mixed. The result is a blend of basement tape and digital technology, slightly raw but entirely heartfelt. Bugaboo Records proudly presents John Egan, "Just Like a Human Being."

like lights out
the weird thing about it is, i really like it. the singer sounds like he needs a little more time in the sunlight, but the band plays like lights out. i'm not sure what that means, but it sounded like it made sense at the time.
