Album Notes

EGOevadiggin's "The Ascetic In Me" ("TAIM") is the latest release from Colorado Springs based FEF Recordings. "TAIM" represents the personal and spiritual connection between Hip-Hop and this front range emcee/producer. EGOed comprises one third of Colorado's StillCatchinWreck crew and has lived his music alongside his companions since arriving there in 1996. Originality and creativity abound throughout this release as EGO delves deep within and unleashes the primordial flow inside. Production credits for "TAIM" also fall under his guidance aside from "Throwspace" produced by fellow crew member KoveOne. Other appearances include Dj Cenik (SCW) on cuts and guest vocals on "Hermit" courtesy of C. Springs veteran Distrakt. As a whole the writing within "TAIM" is complimented beautifully by its production which serves as a worthy vessel for EGOed's words.

REVIEWS

This was the most slept on independent release of 2004 ! Hands down.
author: Dwight Maskew - carbonBased Media
Declaration, opens up with haunting samples giving you just a taste of what's to come. In For Being, the bassline cascades to the front of the stage as EGO works the SP-12 & ASR in unison alongside the driving drums. Throughout this album, EGO steps right to the mic with the truth of self redemption and new beginnings. He sheds the knowledge of being thru the fire and coming out the other side unscathed and challenges his audience to contemplate his or her place in the universe. Heavy stuff and you don't expect to hear it put so bluntly or straightforward. A little Effort and we get Sunrise and the day has begun. Tha Drill kicks in to let you know -just how it be!- and if you want adventure, you've got it with Finding Thailand as bells ring you through this virtual pilgrimage to inner peace. This Hermit sees nothing wrong with a -little alone time with my mind- and sheds some of the Colorado-based Doctrine running rampant along the Front Range. Throw Space and Hear and Now continue the beat break lesson you're now getting schooled with. Another mid-tro brings us to Sunset, Line Chatter and the title track, TAIM (awesome), End of August and Fear & Loathing in CO '02 Live As MC/Producer, EGOed has spent years mastering the tools of the trade and by the sounds of these tracks, no doubt knows his way around a sampler, breaking everything all the way down and doing what needs to be done. If you're tired of the same old hip-hop, try TAIM, its new and good for your soul!

Best Hip-Hop album of 2004?
author: David Waldron
This has got to be in my top 5 albums of 2004. TAIM is not only brilliant lyrically, but the production is so tight! Today, more and more good hip-hop solely concentrates on bad hip-hop instead of just making music. EgoED acknowledges the generic rap scence but doesn't delve into it. It's self-aware, thoughtful and artistically superb. Hip-hop fans; you need to hear this!
