PRESS RELEASE

Elizabeth Hummel’s new release The Turning Point offers the listener deceptively simple musical arcs, ageless and ancient pop music reminiscent of Donovan’s melodies, Elizabeth Fraser’s pure vocals, Richard Thompson’s lyrics, with the heart of Hank Williams and the soul of Hildegaard of Bingen.

OK, that seems a bit over the top, but you get the gist.

The song cycle that is The Turning Point covers a broad spectrum of empathy, unafraid of either silliness or seriousness. This is music in earnest and music to make you smile. It is angels and devils dancing together.

Like Hummel’s earlier releases, American Stories and The Cauldron, The Turning Point goes inside-out genres of folk, rock, pop and jazz to offer a rich and original musical brew. This CD was produced by Elizabeth and Brian Castillo.
