Album Notes

This second album from award winning writer and performer Eileen Tipping is her first professionally produced recording. Eileen’s voice, as it floats above the music, embraces us with easy warmth, inviting us into her “Summer Kitchen”, to love, laugh, dream and taste life to the fullest. The songs, ranging in mood from the very lovely “The Subject Tonight” to the funky “I Have Searched for You”, are a representative sample of her work, which continues to defy genre.

The band – (Steve Kurtz on lead guitar, Jack Loughead on bass, Tom Montgomery on keyboard and accordion, and Daoud Shaw on percussion) - delivers each song with sensitivity and conviction. Ben Vinci’s saxophone weaves in and out of the tunes in sometimes soaring, sometimes subtle accents, and BJ Sarkissian’s 12-string sings in the spaces of “Cosmic Seek’n’Find. The generosity and skill of these musicians is apparent from the start, and they provide the perfect complement to both the lyric and the vocal.

Eileen has been compared to such artists as Tracey Nelson, Laura Nyro and even Van Morrison, but she remains a truly unique stylist whose stated aim is to touch the hearts and minds of those who listen.

Eileen Tipping

This CD captures the spirit of my friend Eileen Tipping. I agree with CD Baby's description - "An eclectic fusion of jazz, blues, and folk, with a sprinkling of rock and country thrown in - not easy to categorize, but sure to please". That's Eileen. A lot of the songs deal with love lost or found. I keep this CD in my car - it helps me ease into my day in the morning, and unwind in the evening. Her musicians add just the right texture to complement her songs. I might compare her music to Susan Werner's or Cheryl Wheeler's, but Eileen's is definitely unique. Buy this CD!
