Album Notes
Bed of Stars contains improvisations on flute and keyboard - dreamy, ethereal soundscapes infused with Reiki (healing energy) to soothe the chattering mind. Running at just over an hour, this CD is designed for massage therapists, acupuncturists, yoga instructors, etc. to play during sessions, and is also excellent for meditation and deep relaxation. This CD contains no drums/percussion.

The reason for creating this CD was partly personal and partly political. Says Éireen, "When I heard [name of performers rights organization] was going after (i.e., levying huge fines on) massage therapists, demanding that they pay royalties for playing music at work, I set out to record royalty-free music for LMTs."

[Track notes:

"Bed of Stars" (the title track) is an ode to the intro of the 1976 song "Dreamweaver." I would hear it on the radio and imagine floating above the solar system. "Bed of Stars" is my response to it - to grab a blanket and lay dreaming at the outer edges of the cosmos.

"Calling Home" - 'Home' in this piece is the centre of the soul, the origin of souldom - where we come from and where we will return when we cast off the mortal coil. It's a song of longing and letting go - to let worries dissipate and remember the beings we are deep inside.

"Dream on a Wire" is a song of manifestation. When we want something, we have to name it, to be clear about what we want and send a telegram to the universe. And when it comes back to us, is it what we wanted? Is it what we thought it would be?

"Immersion" was inspired by many a mud bath in Calistoga, for the exquisitely wonderful feeling of being immersed in a vat of hot peat moss.

"Laís" began as a melody that came to me in college. My college roommate, Lisa, had four pillows on her bed (that spelled L-I-S-A) and oddly enough, the letters would always be rearranged in some way by the time she came back to the room. This piece is an homage to the practical jokes we used to play on each other and the good times we had.

"Sunrise" - Every massage must end, and "Sunrise" signals an awakening - to a new day, a new thought, a new way of moving and being. When you hear the flute again, you've got about 7 minutes (in a 60-minute session) to bring the massage to a close.]

Éireen Cullen is a Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Colon Hydrotherapist, singer/songwriter and classically-trained flutist. This is her first CD.

Blissful peace
Eireen’s music is haunting and ethereal. I especially love the pieces with her beautiful flute. Her expressive phrases lift and transport me to a state of blissful peace.

This an absolutely magnificant creation. Words cannot describe the beauty of the music.

Word Shaman
I received massage with this CD playing, and never have I relaxed more deeply, or felt more renewed afterward. Each rich, deep piece of music conveyed me to another Universe, one where all is well and peace is more than a dream. This is an enormously talented artist who deserves wide recognition. I highly recommend Bed of Stars.
