Album Notes

Former Chucklehead emcee and guitarist Eben Levy brings the funk with his new band Ejectrode!

What's Ejectrode?! It's that paper clip thing you used to get that damn disk out of your damn computer the other day. It's a simple little tool dominating a complex machine. It's also the New York City based organic/electronic funk throwdown from former Chucklehead Eben Levy. Make sure to visit Ejectrode's new website at www.ejectrode.com, unless you've got something really and truly great to do, in which case, you might consider doing it later or just forgetting it altogether.

REVIEWS
"If Prince were addicted to pot and LSD instead of sex and his tiny manhood, his music would sound just like the music on this disc"
- The Noise, Boston. Pre-release four song CD review

"[This] is the new project put together by the former Chucklehead mastermind Levy. For those who missed the homegrown funk scene of the nineties, Chucklehead was a hard-touring, much loved Boston band known for its incessant mixing of a heavy bass grove, hip-hop lyrics and rock and roll. The new band adds a few more electronic flourishes to the mix, but the beat remains intact."
-The New Yorker.

ALBUM
Over four years in the making, Ejectrode's debut album "Accident Theory" is now available.

First of all (there is no second of all), Ejectrode plays organic/electronic music. "What the hell does that mean?" you ask. Well, the new album Accident Theory is the result of four years of live musicians rehearsing and playing shows together. It's also the result of four years of electronic music sound-smithing.

The album, like a live Ejectrode show was made in true cyborg fashion, with the musicians in the band playing traditional instruments and triggering short machine-made sounds as part of their performance. Just to make sure the band is keeping it "on the postmodern tip", in some instances, musicians integrated samples of themselves from prior performances into their playing. Yipes! It's the Six Million Dollar Funk Band y'all!

Most of the album was recorded and mixed at emcee/guitarist Eben Levy's studio ShackedUpSound including Dave's bass, Matt's guitar, all vocals and Eben's guitar, keys and bass. Eben produced the music and also generated beats and noise at ShackedUpSound. Gary Seligson's sample triggering and live drums and Jim Abbott's pianos were recorded in other studios in NYC as Eben did not want to get evicted from his domicile.

Chucklehead alumnus Huck Bennert produced two songs on the album (one at Wellspring Sound in MA) and was there at the mastering session (at Boston's soundmirror) with mastering engineer Mark Donahue to lend an ear.

Accident Theory is 50 minutes long. The CD has lyrics to the songs in the booklet, so you can figure out what we're talking about and sing along (or not) at your discretion.

I do not know anything about Chucklehead or any other previous manifestations of Ejectrode, but I have to say I'm hooked on this new and improved concoction. I especially dig the tune "Hundredaire". I can't wait to hear Ejectrode's next output and I'm looking forward to catching them live. Hopefully soon.

A must-add to any music connoisseur's collection

THIS CD is Uniquely Positioned to be a fantastic album! First the guitar gets you, then the drumming, then the words weave a complex funny world to which you must return. Repeated listenings bring different nuances to Levy's acute perceptions of life. Best combination of intelligence, creativity and good ol' funk I've heard in a long long time.
