If you have been to Vegas or Atlantic City you will think that there is nothing unique or original about a vocal impressionist. Even the better ones inevitably slide into exaggeration that is more audio caricature than fitting tribute.
When you listen to "Voices of Legends", however, you will hear an album of vocals by Eric Kearns that are not only stunningly accurate in their likeness to the original, but stand on their own as thoroughly enjoyable performances. Eric Kearns is a vocal impressionist who takes care in his study of every nuance; the inflections and diction unique to the singers he impersonates are incorporated into each performance.
Accompanying Mr. Kearns is a first class big band/orchestra led by violinist Todd Sullivan of New York City. An orchestra of this quality is a treat on the ears - and even the musicians get in on the tributes. Is that really lead trumpeter Dave Trigg on the "Hello Dolly" solo - as the liner notes indicate - or did Louis himself come back for one more feature?
