Album Notes

...Another late addition was Eric Ketzer and his latest group project, the experiment. The Eric Ketzer experiment [EKe] skates the boundaries of jam band territory but with a distinct non-jam edge. Eric's voice generally waivers between Jon Popper and Dave Matthews-in a non-creepy way, though-and his lyrics are pure and simple, poetry. The band is a tight conglomerate of seasoned professionals, looking to expand their and our musical horizons (and minds).
--Darren Tracy, Flush Magazine

Entering their 2nd year, EKe finds itself with a different look and modified sound. Depending on the day of the week, EKe could be a 3, 4, or 5 piece. What remains constant with this band is its solid song-oriented foundation, tight live performances and inability to conform to any particular genre. Tunes like "Desolation Angel" will blow you away with mature alliterations to Kerouac and a thick garage-esque guitar, where as "Railroad Affair" twangs with alt-country sensibility and "Sex with Saturn" tells the wah ladened of interplanetary romance.

Since forming in January of 2002, EKe has garnered much media exposure. They are listed as a River Home Grown Artist and have had their tracks spun on 101.1 the River. They have also been played on KDHX (88.1), and 93x. They were featured on the KSDK's (NBC Channel 5), Show Me St. Louis Summer Concert Series; O'Fallon's, Acoustic Bean on Channel 21, and many episodes of Mid Coast Mania, which is aired on Fox Channel 2. EKe's biggest accomplishment, other than developing a loving fan base, was making it to the FINAL FIVE in the Daily Buzz's (WB) "Best Bands you are not Listening To" Contest, a national contest looking for the best unsigned bands in America. EKe has proven that the experiment is ever evolving and the acid-folk-n-roll rolls on...

Left Side of the River is a breath of fresh air. I was lucky enough to pick-up a pre-release copy through a radio station promo, and was I blown away. This Eric kat has an amazing voice and his words are very intelligent, not this bubble gum trite crap we are inundated with. The band is phenomenal, tightest drums I have heard in a long time. I am looking forward to more EKe.

I find myself actually getting lost in this cd. Everytime I listen, I seem to get new meaning out of every song. It is just amazing what good music can do for the soul. Thank you EKE!
