Are you interested in an evening of even-handed, even tempered political humor, that doesn't play favorites, but treats all sides the same in a spirit of light-hearted fun? Then we guarantee you'll hate the hilariously opinionated satire and song of "The Front Page Follies," created and performed by Peter Ekstrom and Michael Quinn. In musical styles as diverse as gospel, doo wop, country western, operetta, calypso and classic Broadway, "The Front Page Follies" serves up send-ups of clueless presidents, heartless justices, soulless fundamentalists, gun nuts, abortion foes, corporate pirates and more. Now the take-no-prisoners entertainment that has played to packed houses from Chicago to New York to Washington DC can come to you.

PETER EKSTROM, composer/singer/pianist. For the Actors Theatre of Louisville, Ekstrom wrote the music and lyrics for "Louisville Zoo," "Matrimonium," "Doctors and Diseases," "Wild Nights," and "The Gift of the Magi," which has been presented by ATL for the past 17 years, as well as at scores of other theatres nationwide. His other work for ATL includes musical scores for "The Misanthrope," "The Mystery of Irma Vep," and five Shakespeare plays. His musical with Steve Hayes, "Kiss Me Quick Before The Lava Reaches The Village," has been presented in Boston, Seattle and Off-Broadway. "Doctors and Diseases" was revamped at the Barter Theatre and then moved to Off-Broadway. Ekstrom is a member of ASCAP.

MICHAEL QUINN, lyricist/singer. For the Actors Theatre of Louisville, Quinn wrote the play "Businessman's Lunch," later published by Samuel French. Other theater pieces include "The Sweet Life," produced by the Yale Repertory Theater, and satirical songs and sketches for "The Snicker Factor," a revue that appeared at the American Place Theater and the Village Gate. As a journalist and essayist, he has written for The New York Times, Time, Newsday, the Daily News and the Village Voice. Quinn is a member of ASCAP.

  • Incredible! Second only (maybe) to Monty Python!!
    author: Walt Snyder

To Ekstrom and Quinn, my hat is off. Never have I heard such great political satire, save perhaps Monty Python and Tom Lehrer, and even that comparison is questionable. Absolutely brilliant and oh, so timely! The lyrics will burn the souls of those who so richly deserve it, and the music is first rate. Moreover, perhaps people who need to learn the truth about current events will latch onto the catchy tunes and do so unwittingly. Congratulations, guys, on a job well done.
